Superior Skin Care Since 1992
Dave Erickson
Founder, Rocky Mountain Sunscreen
Rocky Mountain Sunscreen (RMS) is located in Lafayette, Colorado and has been manufacturing superior sun protection products since 1992. Our founder, David Erickson noticed that skiers and snowboarders were getting sunburned in Colorado's high altitude mountains. This inspired our product creation. Following three years of research and development, the first bottle of Rocky Mountain Sunscreen was shipped in December 1992.
Today we use a BONDING BASE formula. Our sunscreen interlocks with the top-layer of your skin, allowing your skin the naturally breath and sweat. Formulated with a combination of environmentally friendly active ingredients and skin nourishing components, our sunscreen is safe to use on young children and those who may have more sensitive skin. You will feel the difference in Rocky Mountain Sunscreen’s non-greasy, fragrance-free formulas.
RMS Will Soon Become Coral Isles
Beginning in late 2024, Rocky Mountain Sunscreen will be changing our product labels to Coral Isles "Reef-Friendly" Sunscreen. We began introducing our Coral Isles brand sunscreen in 2016, mainly to resorts and retail shops in seaside locations. We soon learned that Coral Isles was a more "relatable" brand to beachgoers than our Rocky Mountain label.
Same Great Formula!
In 2021, Hawaii's legislature enacted SB 2571, Act 104, prohibiting the sale and distribution of sunscreens that contain the chemicals Oxybenzone and Octinoxate in Hawaii. Like many mainstream sunscreen brands, we removed these long-standing ingredients from both our RMS and Coral Isles products.
In addition to our reef-friendly "bonding base" sunscreen, Coral Isles is also available in a topical MINERAL formula considered the best for extremely sensitive marine environments.
